                    What is Performance Club?

Performance Club Kids Performance Club Kids
Performance Club is an after school program that develops self-esteem through performance! At every Performance Club...we sing, dance, practice voice exercises, work on “being heard", projection, skits, improvisation, theater games, creative movement, dramatics, even stand-up comedy!  But most importantly we rehearse for shows that we love to perform for our friends, family, school and community!

Performance Club gives every young performer a “solo” moment where they are encouraged to shine all on their own (if and when ready)!  Getting up in front of a group to speak can be difficult but at the Performance Club…it’s no big deal…it’s the opposite…they’re begging to get up!  The environment is safe and free of judgment with clear rules that encourage students to be supportive of one another and positive! We prepare them for auditions or interviews in a variety of exercises. We use terms like "action"; "cut"; "slate" and "quiet on the set" in order to familiarize them with industry terms if they choose to pursue entertainment work.

Originally, Performance Club was set up to come to local schools as an after school program. It was convenient, safe and created school spirit with the students who joined the club.  Performance Club would liven up a PTA meeting, fundraiser or school event! The Wrightsville Beach Performance Club has not only performed at school events like Fall Fest and Marine Science Day...but has entertained seniors at local nursing homes and at charity events like "Relay for Life" and the JDRF.

The NEW Performance Club Studio is located right next to the Music School of Wilmington where young performers can take acting in a studio atmosphere with lights, curtain and microphone - very professional, yet fun and exciting!  The sessions are different every month, keeping it "fresh" and challenging!  See after school programs for details.

The overall goal is performance!  All the young performers have fun by "getting up and being up front"...that's our motto!  We develop their creativity and empower their imaginations with theater games.  Theater games are designed to stimulate action, relation and spotaniety of individuals in a group setting.  Anyone can play!  Everyone can learn from playing and we all learn by doing!
